This event features esteemed National Renal Expert Dr. Alison Steiber, Ph.D., R.D., L.D. from Case Western Reserve University who will conduct a 45 minute audio presentation followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.

Program Objectives

• Understand the pathophysiology of inflammation and its impact on patient metabolism.
• Understand the prevalence of inflammation in CKD patients with dialysis, the process of catabolism leading to protein energy wasting (PEW), and the overall impact on patient outcomes.
• Understand the emergency interventions to reduce inflammation for CKD patients on dialysis.

Target Audience

This teleconference series is intended for healthcare practitioners (RDs, MDs, NPs, PAs, and RNs) who actively treat patients with renal disease.

Expert Information

Since 2002, Dr. Alison Steiber has been Coordinator of the Dietetic Master/internship Program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She has numerous publications, research grants and currently teaches dietetic seminars and investigative methods in nutrition.
