Lots of News and Big Announcements from RD411.com!
Message from Nancy Collins, PhD, RD, LD/N, FAPWCA
Last month, I promised you a new resource that would be ideal for private practice dietitians, entrepreneurs, out-patient dietitians and anyone trying to market their facility, business or practice. I am thrilled to bring you a brand new marketing service designed to help you build your own brand. If you are like many of my friends, you may have developed an extensive mailing list over the years but simply don’t have the time to design slick marketing products to keep your name in front of your target audience. RD411.com now offers bi-monthly four-page newsletters that you can use to stay in touch with your own clients and patients. Each newsletter contains timely topics, covering various aspects of nutrition, health, exercise, and well-being. The content meets the same high standards that RD411.com demands, and is peer reviewed and referenced, where applicable. You can download the file and then send it to your own mailing list or you can bring the file to your local print shop if you prefer paper copies. You can even personalize the newsletter with your contact information. Click here to see the premiere issue and learn more about this new service.
I am also happy to unveil our first resource in Chinese. This patient communication aid was conceptualized by Judy R. Simon, MS, RD, LDN, so please thank Judy for sharing her creation. Click here to see the Chinese version. The same item is available in Spanish as well by clicking here.
As always, I love to hear your comments and feedback. Please email me at Nancy@RD411.com.

Serious Advice from Dr. Collins
I am so glad that many of you have taken my advice and purchased a Clickfree automatic backup drive. Read my personal story about the fire in my office and you will see how I discovered this amazing product!
I am sure you will rest easier knowing your files are safe. If you have not yet taken steps to protect your electronic files, I am happy to announce that I have been able to get our discount offer extended until March 31, 2009. RD411 users can get a 15% discount and free shipping by entering coupon code cfr331. If you don’t routinely back up your computer, you are at risk for losing your files. I have found the simplest back up system ever called the Clickfree Automatic Backup. You don’t need any computer knowledge because all you have to do is plug it into your USB port. Then sit back and watch it make a copy of all your documents, photos, slide sets, and other important files

RD411 Book Shelf
Each month Dr. Collins will highlight one book she recommends.
Every week, RD411.com users write in with questions about interpretation of lab values. This is a complicated topic but a very important one because there are so many biochemical indicators that are affected by nutrition. Dr. Mary Litchford, PhD, RD, LDN has written the definitive book on this topic which will surely benefit any nutrition practitioner. Entitled Practical Applications in Laboratory Assessment of Nutrition Status, this 353 page book is a valuable reference which includes biochemical assessment of protein and hydration status, nutritional anemias, and specific information on more than 75 lab tests used for nutrition-related conditions. Dr. Litchford is also the author of several other books including The Advanced Practitioner’s Guide to Nutrition and Wounds; Protein Powders, Potions and Elixirs; and Common Denominators of Declining Nutritional Status. For more information on how to order, click here.
