Balance Your Budget with Free Resources!

Message from Nancy Collins, PhD, RD, LD/N, FAPWCA

My email in-box was filled with bad financial news today. In one single day, I received messages from my city government office, my childhood camp, my dietetic association, and my alma maters, FIU and UNLV, about budget cuts. The messages all spoke to a common theme even though they came from diverse entities. The financial strain of the current economy has hit everyone. We are all doing more with less. As healthcare professionals, it can be difficult to give each patient our best with downsizing, bigger patient loads, and looming deadlines. Let RD411.com help you. New resources are added all the time; we currently offer nearly 1,400 different items. In the coming months you will find even more innovations and new tools. I am very excited to unveil what I have planned and I can’t wait to share it with you. Watch this space for news.

As always, I love to hear your comments and feedback. Please email me at Nancy@RD411.com.

Free Marketing Newsletter for Your Own Mailing Lists

Last month, I told you about a new resource that would be ideal for private practice dietitians, entrepreneurs, out-patient dietitians and anyone trying to market their facility, business or practice. I am thrilled that so many of you took advantage of this brand new marketing service designed to help you build your own brand. If you are like many of my friends, you may have developed an extensive mailing list over the years but simply don’t have the time to design slick marketing products to keep your name in front of your target audience. RD411.com now offers bi-monthly four-page newsletters that you can use to stay in touch with your own clients and patients. Each newsletter contains timely topics, covering various aspects of nutrition, health, exercise, and well-being. The content meets the same high standards that RD411.com demands, and is peer reviewed and referenced, where applicable.  You can download the file and then send it to your own mailing list or you can bring the file to your local print shop if you prefer paper copies. You can even personalize the newsletter with your contact information. Click here to see the new Spring issue and learn more about this new service.

RD411 Book Shelf

Each month Dr. Collins will highlight one book she recommends.

A must read for those in long-term care! Nasty, Brutish, and Long: Adventures in Old Age and the World of Eldercare (Avery/Penguin) by Ira Rosofsky is a candid, humane, and improbably humorous look at long-term care. With a compassionate eye yet mordant wit, Rosofsky, a psychologist charged with providing mental health services to his elders in a wide variety of nursing homes and assisted living centers, writes of his professional life along with his personal story of caregiving to his own frail, elderly parents. It is also a rumination on his own aging and mortality.  It is available at bookstores and all the online booksellers. Rosofsky’s web page, www.rosofsky.com, has links to booksellers and will tell you more about him and his book.
