Jam Packed With New Offers and New Resources
Message from Nancy Collins, PhD, RD, LD/N, FAPWCA
I seem to have acquired a new addiction—Twitter. For those of you who know me personally, I am sure you are shaking your head and thinking that the last thing I need is another addiction. If you are following my tweets @RD411, you have come to know some of my other passions aside from nutrition. Since I have been getting so many questions about my other hobbies—um, addictions— I thought I would answer a few questions here. First there is Jesse James. Not the outlaw; the man married to the actress Sandra Bullock. Many of you have written and asked about Jesse. He is an amazing entrepreneur with an enormous amount of passion, drive and energy. In addition to his motorcycle business, clothing line, television show, and magazine, he runs an eco-friendly hamburger restaurant called Cisco Burger. He is fearless and makes me want to open yet another new business. Seriously! The next topic I get many questions about is General Hospital. Yes, I am following the tweets of many of the actors who have roles on GH. It is fun to see the real people behind the characters. I started watching GH in high school and yes, I still watch it every day. And lastly for this installment, is poker. Several people wrote and asked what I meant when I mentioned the November Nine. The November Nine refers to the final nine players who will play in the World Series of Poker this November. I dream of one day being in the November Nine but judging from my performance in my last tournament, it is not likely to happen anytime soon. I could go on and on but for more on the real dietitian behind the newsletter, follow me @RD411 on www.twitter.com.
We have over 50 new resources this month and several very exciting special offers just for RD411.com. Keep reading to learn some more interesting tidbits! As always, I love to hear your comments and feedback. Please email me at Nancy@RD411.com.

RD411 Book Shelf
Each month Dr. Collins highlights one book she recommends.
This month’s recommended book is entitled The All-Pro Diet: Lose Fat, Build Muscle, and Live Like a Champion by Tony Gonzalez and Mitzi Dulan, RD. I have to admit, I didn’t know who Tony Gonzalez was before reading this book. Now I know he is a professional football player who for many years, ate pretty much whatever he wanted including lots of burgers, chicken wings, pizza and fast food. After all, he was burning it all up during his workouts and games. Or so he thought. Tony began to worry about his long-term health and came to realize that he could improve his game with better nutrition. He worked with Mitzi, the nutritionist for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals, and improved his performance, endurance and energy levels. This book is the compilation of their work together. With the start of football season here, this book is a touchdown! For more information, visit Mitzi at www.nutritionexpert.com.
